LHL Fellow, HIstory of Science Center
About
My research concerns the development of medical and natural sciences in Italy and Europe between XVII and XVIII century, with a special interest in the “naturalistic experimentalism” performed by Antonio Vallisneri (1661-1730). I am currently writing a monograph on Vallisneri’s works in the field of Earth Sciences, which will be published in 2012.
Since January 2006 I collaborate with the CNR/ISPF Institute in Milan (www.ispf.cnr.it) and with the National Edition of Antonio Vallisneri’s works, and
since September 2009 I am co-director of the electronic inventory of Vallisneri’s
correspondence (www.vallisneri.it). This project involves other national and international scientific institutions, such as the Institut d’Histoire de la Médecine et de la Santé at Geneva University, the Centro studi Lazzaro Spallanzani in Scandiano, the State Archives and the Panizzi Library in Reggio Emilia, the Estense Library in Modena and the Universities of Milan and East Piedmont. In these last two institutions I serve as Teaching assistant and Adjunct lecturer.
I also collaborate to a research project at the University of Insubria (Viaggi montani e ricerca geologica nel Settecento - PRIN 2007) on the reconstruction of the naturalistic journeys made in Italian mountains from XVII to XIX century.
